The ecosystem of the Sierra de San Pedro is the best representative of the Mediterranean forest in Extremadura. It's natural paradise where they coexist with the Dehesa. Besides its flora, it has a great weath of lagoons, banks and the reservoir of Peña del Águila; as well as a wide variety of birds, amphibians and vertebrates.
It's one of the best reserves of species such as spanish imperial eagle, endangered species. Black vulture, Bonelli's eagle, golden eagle, black stork or euroasian eagle owl are other prominent birds of its crags. In addition, next to the mountain is a large area of plains where you can watch a great diversity of steppe birds.
